About

Welcome to Write in San Diego Blog. I’m an oldish lady pretending to be middle aged, dwelling in the suburbs of San Diego. I still question who I am and what I’m doing though I have painted tattoos at the County fair, bicycled through the Netherlands, counted millions of dollars for a bank, taught kids to read, been married forever, raised two kids, buried a brother my mother and at times my feelings. I lead writing groups in the Amherst Writers and Artists (AWA) method in San Diego, California. I do this because I believe each of us has a writer within, a valuable voice, perhaps unknown, undiscovered, untried, uneducated, yet worthy of expression. I believe the act of writing is powerful and transformative. The purpose of this blog is to encourage people to write and to join my writing groups. Get to know me through my posts. Write from some of the prompts that inspire my groups. Pick up your pen and release your inner writer. Join a group, learn more about me on this blog and at my website.

I look forward to writing with you.

  1. Laurie — This is wonderful writing! I am curious about the Amherst method. I have been a writer for a long time, and am curious about such things. You have a unique voice! P.S. Love your website. It is beautiful!
